The involvement of Czech volunteer doctors in the Balcan wars 1912 - 1913: Its impact and influence on the development of Balcan health care

Bachelor thesis "The involvement of Czech volunteer doctors in the Balkan wars 1912 - 1913: Its impact and influence on the development of Balkan health care" focuses on the Czech volunteer doctors during the Balkan wars 1912 - 1913 but other volunteer workers are also considered. The relations between the Czech representation and the Balkan states are presented. To explain the motivation of the volunteers the Czech pan-Slavism and the relations to other Slavic countries are briefly examined. The reactions to the outbreak of the war among the ordinary Czech citizens are mentioned, especially the financial and other support. The responses of the Austria-Hungarian authorities are presented. The concrete actions taken by the Czech doctors are examined and compared to the local habits and knowledge. Difficulties and problems faced by the doctors are also presented.
